There’s something healing about a dog.

Sadie takes her job very seriously! She is a certified therapy dog, who was specifically chosen for the purpose of loving on people and helping them to heal. She spends most of her work hours in Abby’s therapy office where she greets clients, offers love when needed, and sleeps on the job regularly. She is trained in deep pressure therapy which helps with physical and emotional regulation.

Sadie is an F1b Moyen Goldendoodle, born at 4eKennels in Pahrump, NV. Her training began from birth, and she was hand-picked for therapy work as a result of her “bomb-proof” personality. Sadie then received her grown-up facility and therapy dog skills from the amazing team at Norton Dog Training. She spent 8 weeks with NDT learning what it takes to do her job.

When Sadie is not working with Abby, she is home with the Peddieson family. Just like a human child, Sadie brings out ALL her personality when she is home. She is equal parts sweet and sassy!

How can Sadie benefit my therapy?

Sadie is in the therapy room to provide physical grounding and elicit positive emotion. There is something magical (actually neurological) that happens when you have a positive interaction with a dog. Her fur is soft, her eyes are genuine, and she has no hidden motives other than pure love and connection.

So, in therapy, whether you are working to regulate emotionally, heal relationally, process trauma, develop coping skills, or survive a season of grief, Sadie brings huge benefit to our time together.

In addition to individual therapy sessions, Sadie is available to use her powers of love and connection within the community. We are willing to respond in crisis situations or provide mental health education to businesses and schools. Contact Abby if you would like to know more about how Sadie can show your group the healing power of love and connection.
